A Green Finger (Dit Verd) is not a specific canal as such. Instead, together with the allotments that are still preserved, certain sections of the canals form distinctive green spaces that are unique to Banyoles, creating green landscapes with water features within the city.
Today, these green fingers are understood as ecological networks or corridors connecting natural spaces within the urban environment. They are used as routes that promote sustainable mobility, whether on foot or by bicycle.
The outlet canals of Lake Banyoles perfectly fulfil this role, acting both as ecological connectors and as green spaces of natural and landscape interest.
