This pesquera, strategically located at the tip of Cap de Bou of La Draga, initiated a new conception of the fishing hut model, the chalet-fishing hut, in a place where it was uncommon to take a stroll and there were only four pesqueres of a traditional size and design.
It was built with much larger dimensions than the other fishing huts in La Draga without, however, attaining the size of those Passeig Darder, nearly all of which could store boats inside. The idea was, on the one hand, to dispense with the boat, but to have enough living space inside to hold a social gathering, beyond simple protection from the weather for fishing and storing gear. The other main idea was to stand out from the other huts.
“La Carpa d’Or” is, in all probability, the pesquera that comes closest, in balance, rigour and constructive precision to the architectural current of a certain era. The construction has neo-medieval battlements with neo-Arab motifs on the doors and windows. There is an outer fence with some discrete finishes with balls.
