Can Sisó is one of the most representative farmhouses in the Guèmol district and stands as a valuable testimony to Banyoles’ agricultural history. Its architecture follows the traditional manor farmhouse model, with a structure adapted to the productive needs of the Banyoles plain. The building combined residential and agricultural spaces, including areas for family living, storage and stables, illustrating the close interdependence between domestic life and the economic activities of the area.
The farmhouse features characteristic construction elements such as stone walls, gabled tiled roofs and openings proportioned according to their interior functions, reflecting the practicality and functionality typical of Catalan rural architecture. Located in an area that was once part of a network of scattered farmhouses, Can Sisó bears witness to the historical organisation of the territory, where agriculture and livestock farming formed the core of economic and social life.
Today, Can Sisó is recognised as part of the local historical heritage, offering insight not only into the architectural evolution of Banyoles’ farmhouses but also into the ways of life and work that characterised the Pla de l’Estany region for centuries.
