Ca l’Ameller, also known as Casa Ameller, is one of the most notable manor houses in the historic centre of Banyoles. Built in the 18th century and later renovated, the building stands out for its neoclassical-inspired façade, constructed in travertine stone, a material characteristic of Banyoles architecture.
The house, which is privately owned, was the residence of the Ameller family, one of the most influential lineages in the town, closely linked to the economic, political and social life of Banyoles. Its architecture reflects the prestige and prosperity achieved by the family during the Early Modern period and, despite the alterations made over time, it still preserves many elements that testify to its social and economic importance.
Protected as a Local Cultural Heritage Asset (BCIL), Ca l’Ameller is a valuable example of urban manor-house architecture and forms part of the rich historical heritage that shapes the identity of Banyoles.
