Carmelite Nuns' Convent

The old Monastery of Our Lady of Carme, popularly known as the Carmelite Nuns’ Convent, is one of the most important religious buildings in Banyoles. The Carmelite community settled in the town in 1643, and for more than three centuries this site served as a centre of contemplative life, prayer and retreat, while also contributing to the town’s expansion beyond its medieval core.

The complex stands out for its austere and functional architecture, characteristic of enclosed religious orders, featuring a single-nave church and convent buildings arranged around an inner cloister.
