Viewpoint of the Creu

On the Puig de Sant Martirià you can enjoy another fantastic viewpoint of the Lake, Banyoles and the region, the viewpoint of the Creu, near the solitary oak of Teixidor del Terme and next to where the ruins of the Old Convent, from the 17th century, are located.

The place has been documented since 1280, although it is known that in 1086 the relics of Sant Martirià, patron saint of the city, were already preserved in this place, which were definitively transferred to the Monastery of Sant Esteve in 1290.

On the Puig we also find one of the few olive groves that survived the cold of 1956, which killed a large part of the olive trees in the region and some cypress trees.
