The Estany (lake) de Banyoles and its surroundings are a unique natural space of great geological, ecological, landscape and cultural value. It has been cataloged, since 1992, as an Area of ​​Natural Interest in the network of protected natural areas of the Generalitat de Catalunya (PEIN, 1992). Since 2002 it has been part of the list of wetlands of international importance of the RAMSAR convention and is also a Special Conservation Area of ​​the Natura 2000 network of the European Union.

The ecosystem of the entire Natural Area is very delicate and we must take care of it together. Here you will find recommendations and good practices for the conservation of the space and the compatibility of the activities carried out there.  Applying good usage practices, respecting nature and complying with regulations when carrying out any activity in this protected natural space is everyone's privilege and responsibility.
