The Plaça Major in Banyoles is the place where each year, on 23rd Aprli, people traditionally come not only from the town but also from the rest of the Pla de l’Estany to celebrate Saint George’s Day. About 50 stalls are erected in the Plaça Major, with books and roses taking pride of place, as tradition demands. The fact is that without roses and books, Saint George’s Day wouldn’t be Saint George’s Day.
