A waymarked walking route included in the Itineraries of the Protected Natural Area of the Estany de Banyoles, a unique natural area that offers enormous geological, ecological, landscape and cultural value.

The circuit of the Estany de Banyoles, Catalonia’s largest lake, is one the area’s most popular walks for visitors and the inhabitants of Banyoles alike. 

It is an easy circular waymarked itinerary that makes a complete circuit of the Lake, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature and attractive scenery and visit the area’s pools and viewpoints.

The itinerary follows the perimeter of a lake environment considered to be one of Catalonia’s most outstanding protected areas. In view of its environmental importance, it has been protected within the Catalan Government’s Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN); it is also included in the List of Ramsar Wetlands of International Importance and is part of the Natura 2000 Network.

It is a reasonably flat route that everyone in the family can enjoy, including babies in pushchairs and people with reduced mobility.
