The Banyoles Art Centre is a new cultural facility in the city, located in the main square, and forms part of the municipal museum network.
The centre was created following an agreement signed in December 2022 between Banyoles City Council and the Gimferrer family for the donation of one of the most important private art collections in the country. The space, located in the historic buildings of Molí de la Plaça and Can Teixidor, has been renovated and adapted to host a semi-permanent exhibition featuring a selection of around sixty works from the total of 136 pieces in the collection. These works span Catalan and Spanish painting from the 19th and 20th centuries, the avant-garde and contemporary art, as well as a representation of African and Oriental art. Among the exhibited works, visitors can see paintings by Rembrandt, Miró, Picasso, Dalí, Saura, Chillida, Tàpies and Llimona.
The official opening of the Art Centre to the public will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. Free open days will be offered on the following dates and times:
